RISE 05
Poster, Flyer, Booklet and Environment for Graduating class Vernissage (Dawson)
Each year the graduating classes have a poster competition to see what gets to represent the 3 years of graphic design work. Our (collaboration with Nadine Brunet) project got picked, which meant that the design was going to be used for the final poster, flyer, booklet and the design of the room in which the event took place.
We wanted to avoid the previous winners choice of simply putting the same image on each application. To do this, we designed each element to coordinate with different functions all the while making each independent piece fit a whole.
The invitation flyer (the first item seen) has a “teaser” image of the balloon man’s face. My initial idea had to do with putting no type on the flyer but adding a deflated balloon that needed to get blown up to view the event’s info. The second item has the full man holding the balloon and carried all the needed info while the last booklet (given out during the night) raps up the narrative by showing the release of the balloon as final festive statement.
